Sara Zarr

American author of essays and young adult fiction. Her 2007 novel, Story of a Girl, was a finalist for the National Book Award.
She studied communications at San Francisco State University and later moved with her husband to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Her essay, "Red State Jesus Freaks for Obama," was published in 2008 as part of the YA for Obama project.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to an Evangelical Christian family.
Her 2009 novel, Once Was Lost, addresses themes of faith and identity and was inspired by the 2002 kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart.
