Novelist who has won acclaim with her young adult novels The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had (2009), The Lions of Little Rock (2012) and The Paper Cowboy (2014). The Lions of Little Rock has garnered a slew of awards, including the New-York Historical Society Children's History Book Prize.
She grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She received a B.A. in German from Swarthmore College and an M.F.A. in film from American University.
She is a former teacher who taught German immersion to third graders and screenwriting to college students.
She has been married and has daughters.
