Friedrich Engels
Philosopher
Sociopolitical theorist and philosopher who laid the foundation for Marxism. He wrote The Condition of the Working Class in England in 1845.
He was involved in several revolutionary activist events during his teenage years and dropped out of high school at 18 because of family conditions. He was sent to be a nonsalaried office clerk at a commercial house in Bremen.
He greatly influenced the founder of the Communist Party in Russia, Vladimir Lenin.
His parents were named Elizabeth and Friedrich Sr. His impoverished condition growing up influenced his worldview and his passion for family economics.
He worked with Karl Marx to produce many influential papers that criticized capitalism, including The Communist Manifesto in 1848.
