Star 6'6" Swedish defender who helped lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2015. He was selected 2nd overall by the Lightning in the 2009 NHL Draft.
He was named to the World U18 All-Star Team in 2007 and 2008 and to the World Junior ALl-Star Team in 2008. He helped Sweden win silver in the World Junior Championships in both 2008 and 2009.
Known best for his physicality on the defensive end, he had a breakout year offensively in 2013-14 when he tallied 42 assists to go along with 13 goals in 75 games.
He was raised with two older brothers, Oscar and Johan.
He was taken one pick after star center John Tavares in the 2009 NHL Draft.
