Erik Olson
Painter
Swedish surrealist painter, sculptor, graphic artist, theatrical and stained-glass window designer, and illustrator. He was a student of the notable Fernand Léger's Academie Moderne.
He participated in his first art show in 1919, the same year he met famed artist Gosta Adrian-Nilsson.
He and his artist brother Axel Olson both belonged to the Halmstadgruppen, a group of six Swedish artists who worked in the styles of cubism and surrealism in the early 20th century.
He grew up in Halmstad, Sweden. He married Solvig Sven-Nilsson in 1929.
He was born in the same year as the renowned Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti.
