He was a music graduate of Wilberforce University.
He performed with and arranged for the Mills Blue Rhythm Band from 1931 until 1936.
He was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He died in San Bernardino, California.
He had great success with his recording of Stardust, the Hoagy Carmichael standard.
