Ray Charles performed a cover in the 1960s of Carmichael's song "Georgia On My Mind."
He married Ruth Meinardi on March 14, 1937; after their divorce in 1955, he remarried Wanda McKay on May 20, 1977.
He did a collaboration with Louis Armstrong on the song "Rockin' Chair."
