Rhythm and Blues pioneer in post-war America who was a significant influence on John Coltrane. He drew influence from artists like Sidney Bechet.
He joined Terence Holder's Twelve Clouds of Joy when he was eighteen years old and graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans.
He composed many hits, including "Flamingo," "Harlem Nocturne," and "Temptation."
He married his wife in the 1950s and they lived in Addisleigh Park, an area saturated with jazz musicians.
Bostic toured with Dinah Washington in 1951.
