About

Known for his graffiti-style paintings and for large-scale works such as "Fifty Days at Iliam" and "The Four Seasons." His work was acquired for the permanent collections of Paris' Musée du Louvre and New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Before Fame

He was a student of Spanish artist Pierre Daura when he was 12. He attended Virginia's Washington and Lee University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Trivia

He served for a time as an United States Army cryptologist.

Family Life

His father Cy pitched for the Chicago White Sox. He married Tatiana Franchetti in 1959. Together, they had a son named Cyrus who grew up to be a painter.
