Paul Kane

Irish-Canadian artist who was their for his paintings of First Nations peoples in the Canadian West.
He taught himself how to paint by copying European masters on a trip through Europe in the 1840s.
Canada released a postage stamp in his honor entitled Paul Kane, painter in 1971.
He had four children with his wife, Harriet Clench, whom he married in 1853.
Like him, Patrick Swift was also an Irish artist.
