Welsh community activist known for being the first black woman to hold the position as headteacher in Wales. She has had a statue erected in her honor in Cardiff, Wales. 

Before Fame

She was educated at Lady Margaret High School for Girls in Cardiff. She worked as a primary school teacher at Mount Stuart Primary School for 28 years.

Trivia

She was a member of the Commission for Racial Equality in Wales and a board member of BBC Wales. She was made an honorary fellow of Cardiff Metropolitan University and received a lifetime achievement award from Unison Cymru's Black Members' group. 

Family Life

She was born in Butetown, Cardiff. Her mother was Honora, a Welsh Barbadian. Her father, Simon Vickers Johnson, was from Jamaica and killed in World War II. She married Rupert Campbell. She had four children.
