Remembered for his character roles in nearly a dozen films produced by the performance duo of Marco Antonio Campos and Gaspar Henaine, this Mexican screen actor also theirly appeared in the 1964 film El Padrecito.
His early film credits include the 1950s musical movie Los Chiflados del Rock and Roll and the 1958 drama Miercoles de Ceniza.
From 1968 until 1973, he played the role of El Bigoton on the Mexican sitcom Los Beverly de Peralvillo.
He was the father of the acclaimed Mexican comedian Benito Castro and the uncle of singer and television host Gualberto Castro.
His grandniece, Daniela Castro, had a successful career as a soap opera actress.
