Anthony Newman
Pianist
Skilled as an organist, a harpsichordist, pianist, fortepianist, pedal harpsichordist, and conductor.
He learned to read music before he learned to read words. He couldn't start taking organ lessons until his feet were long enough to reach the pedals, much to his disappointment.
He collaborated with many musicians, including Itzhak Perlman, Leonard Bernstein, Kathleen Battle, and Eugenia Zukerman.
His mother was an amateur pianist and professional dancer, while his father was a lawyer.
He became enamored with the works of Johann Sebastian Bach after hearing the fifth Brandenburg Concerto when he was five.
