Italian blues singer known for helping popularize the genre in his native country. Almost all of his albums have gone platinum, including Spirito DiVino and BlueSugar, both of which went ten-times platinum.
He developed his interest in blues as a young teacher after an American friend introduced him to Otis Redding. He then learned to play guitar and saxophone.
He was playing with small bands in the early 1970s while studying to be a veterinarian. He then decided to pursue music full-time, left school, and moved to San Francisco, California.
He had two children with first wife Angela Figlie. After they divorced, he had a son with Francesca Mozer and has also adopted children from Kenya.
Over the course of his career, he's played with several prominent musicians, including Eric Clapton and BB King.
