Blues guitarist and singer who pioneered jump and electric blues and who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
He was shown the ropes by family friend Blind Lemon Jefferson.
He was the first musician to use the electric guitar for blues music.
He was born to parents Movelia Jimerson and Rance Walker, who were both musicians. Marco Washington, his step-father, taught him to play the guitar, violin, and piano.
In 1962, he appeared at the American Folk Blues Festival with Willie Dixon .
