Russian symbolist poet, fiction writer, and dramatist whose poetic works include The Shining Ones and Poems. Her short story collections include Mirrors and New People.
She wrote her first poems at the age of seven. She published her first poetic works in Severny Vestnik (The Northern Messenger), an important Russian literary magazine.
She lived in exile beginning in the 1920s, due to the political turbulence in her native Russia.
Her husband of fifty-two years was the philosopher Dmitriy Merezhkovsky.
She was a contemporary of Alexander Blok.
