Brazilian singer and composer who is best recognized for his contributions to the Samba and Pagode styles of music. He is known for having received the Premio BRA GA de Musica award in 2008 for Best Singer and for his popular albums Zeca Pagodinho and Jeito Moleque.
He attended the GRES Portela Samba School and started performing at the Carnival Block of Cacique de Ramos. He recorded his first album in 1986 entitled Zeca Pagodinho but gained further attention in 2003 when he won the Best Singer award at the Trofeu Imprensa de Melhor Cantor awards.
He was nominated for Best Samba / Pagode Album at the 16th annual Latin Grammy Awards for his work on the album Ser Humano.
He was born and raised in Iraja, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He first met Beth Carvalho performing at Carnival and was quickly asked by her to appear on the single Camarao Que Dorme a Onda Leva.
