Japanese-Korean judoka who took home gold at the 2001 Asian Judo Championships and 2002 Asian Games. He later became a successful MMA fighter with UFC.
He began practicing judo at age three.
His relationship with his daughter was documented in the reality show Superman is Back.
He married fashion model Shiho Yano, with whom he had a daughter named Sarang in 2011.
He defeated Alan Belcher via split decision on UFC 100 in July 2009.
