William Lipscomb
Chemist
An American chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1976 for his studies on the structure of boranes. He was also a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences as well as a foreign member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
He made his own fireworks when he was a child to entertain the neighbors and his friends.
Future Nobel Prize winner Ada Yonath worked in his lab and was greatly inspired by his work.
He had three children with his first wife Mary Adele Sargent after marrying in 1944.
He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry the year after Vladimir Prelog did.
