William Bradford Huie
Novelist
Journalist who wrote for the American Mercury and published books such as The Execution of Private Slovik.
He graduated with honors and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Alabama.
He reported the murder of Emmet Till and Ku Klux Klan activity during the Civil Rights Movement.
He was the child of John Bradford and Margaret Lois Brindley Huie and grew up with two siblings. He went on to marry Ruth Puckett.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote the introduction for the second edition of his book Three Lives for Mississippi.
