William Gass
Novelist
American novelist, short story writer, and critic who became known for The Tunnel and Omensetter's Luck. He won the Truman Capote Award for Literary Criticism.
He studied at Kenyon College and Cornell University.
He was awarded grants from the Rockefeller Foundation and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
He was born in Fargo, North Dakota. He married Mary Pat O'Kelly in 1952.
While at Cornell, he briefly studied under Ludwig Wittgenstein.
