He was introduced to rugby at age 12 after his family moved from their native Papau New Guinea to Australia.
He won a People's Choice award as a Reds fan favorite in 2010.
His father, Kilroy Genia, worked in the Papau New Guinean government.
He captained the Reds in 2010 after the previous captain, James Horwill, went down with an injury.
