Dutch striker who is widely known for his career in club career in both the Dutch Eredivisie and English Premier League. In 2016, he signed with Tottenham Hotspur, where he made 35 total appearances during his debut season.
He rose to widespread prominence with the youth teams NEC and Feyenoord. He won the U-19 national cup with the latter in 2013.
He won the 2016 Johan Cryuff Trophy for Dutch Footballer of the Year while playing for Dutch club AZ. He finished that season as the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie.
His mother is former internationally-decorated swimmer Annemarie Verstappen.
His style of play has been compared to former Dutch soccer legend Ruud van Nistelrooy.
