Soul blues singer responsible for critically-acclaimed albums like 1989's Trudy Sings the Blues, 1994's 24 Hour Woman, 2006's I'm Still Here, and her number one 2014 Billboard Blues album Royal Oaks Blues Café. She previously performed with the group Rhythmaires and opened for artists like Ike & Tina Turner.

Before Fame

She was born in the Fifth Ward in Houston and got her start singing professionally in the mid-60's with renowned guitarist Albert Collins. She was then a host of contemporaries on the Chitlin' Circuit and even recorded with the greats at the famed Peacock/Duke Label in Houston, Texas in her early days.

In 2007, 2014, and again in 2015, she was nominated for the prestigious international Blues Music Awards presented by the Blues Foundation.
