Soul Singer
Musician for the influential soul band The Miracles. He was a multiple-time BMI Award winner for songwriting.
He first met Smokey Robinson at a music event put on by the Detroit Public School System, which eventually led to the formation of The Miracles.
He and The Miracles, with the exception of Smokey Robinson, were not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, but were retroactively added in 2012.
He fathered daughters Monette and Monique.
He wrote the hit song Ain't That Peculiar, which was sung by the great Marvin Gaye.
