Tom Banks
Physicist
American scientist who has worked as a theoretical physicist at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His work has focused on string theory and its applications to high energy particle physics and cosmology.
He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973.
He is one of the four originators of the BFSS Matrix Theory, which attempted to formulate M theory in a nonperturbative manner.
He grew up with family in New York.
