NHL general manager who took over as GM of the Buffalo Sabres in 2014 after Darcy Regier was fired. He'd previously served as the Ottawa Senators assistant GM and head GM of their AHL affiliate Binghamton Senators.
He started his NHL management career in 1993 as a scout for the Detroit Red Wings. He took the same position with the Florida Panthers in 1994.
He became a member of the Shawville Hockey Wall of Fame in 2012.
He was born to Barrie Murray. He has two uncles who've also had careers in the NHL: coach and GM Bryan Murray and player and coach Terry Murray.
One of his most high-profile moves as the Buffalo Sabres GM was selecting Jack Eichel with the second overall pick in 2015.
