American sculptor and musician whose work had a large influence on monumental art in the United States. He made a sculpture of Daniel Webster.
He worked several odd jobs to support his family and then spent three years working at the Boston Museum.
He purposefully never attended the unveiling of any of his public works.
He was born to Thomas Ball and Elizabeth Wyer Hall.
He met Franz Liszt while traveling through Europe.
