Soloist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra who appeared on many of their classics, including their their recording of "In The Mood."
He started playing saxophone at the age of nine and had his first professional gig with the Ben Young band.
He sang on the their song "Chattanooga Choo Choo."
His wife Sandra survived him when Beneke passed away in Costa Mesa.
Beneke appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
