He started cycling at ten and completed the Mount Evans Hill Climb at fourteen.
He won a total of ten Junior National titles in road and cyclo-cross racing.
He married Jessica Phillips in 2011.
He has been teammate with Cadel Evans on the BMC Racing Team.
