Lyricist who worked on Stormy Weather, Get Happy, and I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues with composer Harold Arlen.
He used to be a theater pianist for silent films and a photo-engraver. He wrote vaudeville and Broadway theatrical productions, as well as producing nightclub shows.
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972.
He was born to George Koehler and Ethel Goldsboro in Washington, D.C.
He had fruitful collaborations with Sammy Fain, Harry Warren, and Rube Bloom.
