He won the World Junior Championships at age 8.
He won the Indian National Championship for a record of 5 consecutive times from 2003 to 2008.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Sudeshna, in 2011.
He and Krishnan Sasikiran are considered two of the modern era's finest chess champions.
