Stefka Kostadinova
High Jumper
Bulgarian athlete who became the world record holder in women's high jump in 1987 and held it for more than 20 years.
Through her Olympic career she set seven world record both indoors and out, and jumped over two meters seven times.
In 2005 she was selected to lead the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
She gave birth to a son in 1995, just a few months before winning the gold medal in the World Championships in Gothenburg.
Merlene Ottey was another Olympic track champion competing in the 1990s.
