Stanley Berenstain
Children's Author
Pennsylvania-born children's book author and illustrator. He and his wife, Jan, became their for their popular Berenstain Bears book series.
After attending the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art, he worked during World War II as a medical artist for the United States Army.
He and his wife co-created It's All in the Family, a cartoon that was published for three decades in Good Housekeeping and McCall's magazines.
He married literary collaborator Jan (Grant) Berenstain in April of 1946. The couple's son, Michael, had a career as an illustrator and writer.
He was a contemporary of fellow American children's book author Paula Fox.
