Famous for his fifth place finish on the 2008-2009 season of Top Chef, he is also well known for his Washington D.C. restaurants We, The Pizza; Bearnaise; and Good Stuff Eatery.
After training at the Culinary Institute of America, he worked under Thomas Keller, Gerard Boyer, and several other celebrity chefs.
When Barack Obama took office as President of the United States, Mendelsohn added the "Prez Obama Burger" to the menu at the Good Stuff Eatery. He later created the "Michelle Melt" in honor of First Lady Michelle Obama.
Born Evangelos Spiros Mendelsohn, he spent his early days in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the remainder of his childhood in Clearwater Beach, Florida.
He and Richard Blais were both finalists on the fourth season of Top Chef (Top Chef: Chicago).
