Hall of Fame quarterback who played 12 seasons with the Chicago Bears.
He played at Columbia, where he also took on such odd jobs as dishwashing, babysitting, and messenger delivery.
He helped revolutionize the passing game in the NFL by leading the league in passing yards per attempt from 1939 until 1943.
He was survived by a son and two daughters after his death in 1998.
He signed a $5,500 contract offered to him by Chicago Bears head coach George Halas.
