Cricketer who became the first Indo-Caribbean to play 100 Tests for the West Indies, and was a former captain of the West Indies cricket team.
He made his debut for the domestic team Guyana in 1991.
He gained the unfortunate distinction of playing in the greatest number of Tests in which his team lost.
His son Tagenarine is also a cricketer.
He was the last batting partner of Brian Lara when Lara broke the record of 365 not out in the fifth Test against England in 1993–94.
