Former spokesperson of the Westboro Baptist Church that has come under scrutiny for her publicized homophobic protests. She became a lawyer and worked at her family's film Phelps-Chartered Co.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas to a father, Fred Phelps, who was a pastor for the Westboro Baptist Church.
She would answer e-mails sent to the Westboro Baptist Church in a column called Dear Shirley. In 2007, she was arrested on suspicion of delinquency of a minor. She was placed on a list of individuals banned from the UK.
She and her husband Brent D. Roper have 11 children, four of whom left the church and family.
Model Lauren Drain Kagan was formerly a member of her Westboro Baptist Church.
