Served as Commander on the last servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope.
He received a Master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1990.
He has flown on four spaceflights.
He married Jill Loomer and had three children.
He performed many of the aerial stunts in the film "Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise.
