Screenwriter
An Estonian writer who rose to literary prominence during the early 2000s, he is known for such works as Elu algab tana (Life Starts Today) and Sudameasjad (Matters of the Heart).
He studied advertising and graphic design at Tartu Art College and subsequently took courses in film directing at Tallinn University.
His novel I Was Here, The First Arrest received the top prize in a 2005 Estonian Novel Competition.
He was raised in Tartu, Estonia. Later in life, he worked for Estonian Television as a director and assistant.
He is a contemporary of American writer Jonathan Franzen.
