Sarah Kane

Known for such poetic, experimental, and violent dramas as Blasted and 4.48 Psychosis, this late 20th-century British playwright also penned a racial-violence-themed short film titled Skin.
She earned a degree in drama from Bristol University and subsequently studied dramatic writing at the University of Birmingham. Her first play, Blasted, premiered in 1995 at London's Royal Court Theatre Upstairs.
Suffering from severe depression, she committed suicide at the age of twenty-eight.
She was born in Essex, England, to evangelical Christian parents.
Her work was praised by her contemporary and fellow English playwright, Mark Ravenhill.
