Samuel Mudd

American physician convicted of being a co-conspirator in the Abraham Lincoln assassination.
He attended University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he wrote his thesis on dysentery.
He was eventually pardoned by President Andrew Johnson and was released from prison in 1869.
He was the fourth of ten children born to Henry Lowe and Sarah Ann Reeves Mudd. Ha was married to his wife Frances from 1857 up until his death.
His role in the assassination of President Lincoln, masterminded by John Wilkes Booth, is disputed by some historians.
