Sam Hunt
Poet
New Zealand-born poet and poetry performer who published his debut work, From Bottle Creek, in 1972. His other poetry collections include Drunkard's Garden and Roaring Forties.
He studied at St. Peter's College, Auckland, where he compensated for a bothersome stutter by excelling in running, diving, and writing.
He worked for a time as a truck driver.
He was born to a sixty-year-old lawyer father and a thirty-year-old mother. In his adulthood, he had two sons of his own.
He counted James K. Baxter among his friends and literary influences.
