Activist who founded the non-profit organization Water for South Sudan Inc. in 2003. He works to educate people about South Sudan while raising money for the impoverished country.
He first became known as one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan" after fleeing the Republic of South Sudan at age 11.
His story became a New York Times bestseller called A Long Walk to Water.
He has dual citizenship in both the U.S. and South Sudan. He was separated from his family at 11 years old during the Sudanese Civil War. He was inspired to help people in Sudan get clean water due to his father's disease from waterborne parasites.
