Brazilian striker who led the national team to a 1994 FIFA World Cup Championship. He became one of the all-time leading scorers for the Brazilian national team, netting 55 goals in 70 appearances from 1987 to 2005.
He began his professional career with Vasco da Gama in 1985.
He turned to politics after retirement and was elected to Brazilian government in 2010.
Born Romário de Souza Faria, he grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His son Romarinho also became a professional soccer player. He has a daughter named Danielle Favatto.
He played alongside the great Ronaldo on the Brazilian national team from 1994 to 2005.
