Equestrian show jumper who won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in the individual event while representing Brazil.
He began competing in show jumping as an eight-year old.
He won medals at three consecutive Olympics, from 1996-2004.
He has one daughter from his first marriage, and one from his second marriage, to Alexa Weeks.
He was Brazil's flagbearer at the 2012 Olympics, following Robert Scheidt who was the flagbearer in 2008.
