Controversial writer who is considered a pioneer in the experimental Off-Broadway Theatre movement, best known for her avant-garde 1961 play Futz.
She studied at the University of Montreal and taught at Brown University.
She is a noted poet whose work has been featured in magazines and journals like First Intensity, Golden Handcuffs, and The Iowa Review.
She married poet George Economou on June 17, 1962.
He and fellow playwright Alden Nowlan both won Guggenheim Fellowships.
