Producer of many Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning films, including Barney's Version from 2010 and Being Julia from 2004.
His family immigrated to Canada from Uruguay in 1963, and he studied at McGill University in Montreal with a focus on literature. He graduated with a B.A. in 1970 and an M.A. in 1972.
He was the founder of the Canadian television and film company Alliance Communications and was CEO until he sold it in 1998 and started a production company called Serendipity Point Films.
He was married to actress and dancer Jennifer Dale, and they had two children, Ari and Sabrina.
He produced the 2005 film Where the Truth Lies, which was based on the novel by Rupert Holmes and starred Kevin Bacon.
