He built the first web browser for his Apple Macintosh in 1992.
He was the co-founder of the international WWW Conference Committee that met annually to flesh out the structure of the World Wide Web.
His parents moved from their little town to Antwerp when he was 11.
He and Tim Berners-Lee helped make the Web into what it became.
