Veteran right-handed starting pitcher who broke A.J. Burnett's Marlins single-game strikeout record in 2009 when he fanned 16 Nationals.
He graduated in 2001 from Rialto High School in California and became a fourth round pick of the Chicago Cubs.
In 2005, the Cubs traded him to the Marlins in exchange for Juan Pierre.
He grew up playing baseball with his older brother Dave. Both were drafted in 2001 and later pitched against each other in a Spring Training game.
In 2011, he passed Dontrelle Willis to become the Marlins all-time leader in strikeouts.
